Roofing in northeast Stark County
Alliance sits in northeast Stark County, about 16 miles from Canton, and part of the city reaches into Mahoning County. Its housing is old. Census estimates put the median build year at 1951, with about 41% of homes built in 1939 or earlier.
On homes that age, the trouble is often underneath: decking that has been wet for years, flashing worn thin at the chimney and valleys, and gutters that need repair spilling water onto the fascia. Mervin climbs the roof to find it, and you see the photos.
We are a family-run company owned by twin brothers, based in Apple Creek. Our own six-man crew, led by Marvin, does the roofing. Licensed, insured, and bonded since 2015.
Own a rental in Alliance?
Only about half of homes in the city are owner-occupied, per Census estimates. If you own a house you rent out, here is what the free inspection gives you.

Commercial roofing →What an inspection on an older Alliance home covers
These parts of a roof wear out with age. Most can't be seen from the ground.
The roof deck
Boards under the shingles rot slowly when water gets in. We look for soft spots, and on a roof replacement we check every board once the old shingles are off.
Gutters and fascia
Gutters that sag or spill over soak the fascia board behind them. We check the gutters and the roof edge together, since one often explains the other.
Chimney grout
Flashing can look fine while the chimney mortar is cracked and letting water in behind it. We check the chimney too.
The overhang
A leak doesn't always reach the ceiling. It can drip out through the soffit instead, and our soffit repair page explains why that matters.

Alliance roofing questions
Plain answers for homeowners and landlords.
Do you work in the Mahoning County part of Alliance?
Yes. Part of the city extends into Mahoning County, and we serve the whole city on either side of the county line.
Do roofers have to register with the City of Alliance?
Yes. The City of Alliance Building Department requires all residential and commercial contractors to register to work within city limits. Commercial plan review, permits and inspections go through the Stark County Building Department. For a residential roof question, call the city office at (330) 823-5122.
Do you work near the University of Mount Union?
Yes. The University of Mount Union campus, downtown and Glamorgan Castle on South Union Avenue are all in the city. For towns outside the city, check our service areas or call us. If you're within reasonable driving distance, we'll likely still take the job.
What should I do after a storm damages my roof?
Stay off the roof and look from the ground for missing shingles, pieces in the yard or dented gutters. Then book a free storm damage inspection. Mervin photographs what he finds and tells you plainly whether a claim makes sense.
Is the roof on an older house worth repairing?
If the deck is solid and the problem is in one area, usually yes. If there's soft decking in several places, we'll tell you a repair isn't worth the money and show you the photos.
