Roofing for Carroll County's seat
Carrollton is the Carroll County seat, with the 1884 courthouse on Public Square and State Routes 39 and 43 meeting in town. Its housing leans older. Census estimates put the village's median build year at 1952, with roughly 40% of homes built in 1939 or earlier. For a village this size the margins on those numbers are wide, so treat them as a rough picture.
On an older house, the question is often whether the roof can be repaired one more time or should be replaced. Mervin answers it from the roof, not the driveway. He checks the deck, the flashing and the chimney, takes photos and walks you through them. If a roof repair will hold, that's what we recommend.
We're based in Apple Creek in Wayne County and serve the village from there. Owned by twin brothers since 2015. Licensed, insured, and bonded.

What a roof replacement looks like
Most of our replacements are one-day jobs. Here's the order of things.

- 1
Free inspection
Mervin climbs the roof, photographs what he finds and walks you through it. Then you get a free written estimate.
- 2
Scheduling
We set a date that works for you. We work spring through fall and shut down for winter in mid-December, so fall is the time to get on the schedule.
- 3
Tear-off and deck check
Marvin's six-man crew strips the roof to the deck and checks every board. Rotted sections get replaced. Spaced decking gets re-sheeted, since code doesn't allow shingles over it.
- 4
New roof
Underlayment, flashing, Owens Corning Duration shingles and ridge. The roof installation page walks through each layer.
- 5
Cleanup
We clean up the job site before we leave.

Gutter installation →
Siding installation
PlyGem Variform vinyl, put on by the six-man siding crew we work with. One estimate for roof and siding.
Siding installation →What moves the price of a new roof
We don't publish prices, because two roofs on the same street can price very differently. The free written estimate gives you the real number. These are the things that move it.
Size of the roof
More squares means more material and more labor.
Condition of the deck
Rotted boards, or spaced decking that has to be re-sheeted, add to the job. On older houses, this is the one to watch.
Flashing and chimney work
Cracked chimney grout or failed flashing gets fixed as part of the roof, not left for later.
The rest of the exterior
If the gutters or siding need work too, they can go on the same estimate. Bundles are available when we do the whole exterior.
Financing is available, including a 12-months-same-as-cash option. Terms are reviewed with your written estimate. See financing options.
Free, written, and no pressure. We'll explain every line before you decide.

Carrollton roofing questions
What homeowners here want to know before they book.
Do you work on the older homes near Public Square?
Yes. Public Square is the village's historic center, with the 1884 Second Empire courthouse, the Daniel McCook House and the Van Horn Building, each listed on the National Register. On older houses, we check the deck, flashing and chimney closely, because that's where age shows.
Is downtown Carrollton a historic district?
Not a National Register district. The courthouse, the McCook House and the Van Horn Building are each listed individually. If you have questions about local rules for your project, check with the village before work starts.
Has Carrollton had tornado damage?
Yes. The National Weather Service confirmed an EF1 tornado in Carrollton, with no injuries. Carroll County also had an EF2 tornado in July 2021. If wind has lifted shingles on your roof, a free storm damage inspection will show you what's up there.
Do you serve Malvern, Minerva and the rest of Carroll County?
The village is on our verified list. For other Carroll County villages, call us. If you're within reasonable driving distance, we'll likely still take the job.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most are one-day jobs. A roof that needs re-sheeting or a lot of flashing work can take longer, and if it needs a second day to be done right, it gets one.
Ready for a straight answer on your roof?
Book a free inspection in Carrollton. Mervin will climb the roof, take photos and tell you whether it's a repair or a new roof.
